Our intensive major gifts fundraising training seminar is designed for fundraisers and development professionals who want to supercharge their major donor fundraising and build successful major gifts programs.

This in-person training covers a range of topics, giving participants a general overview of the foundational principles and essential practices needed for securing major gifts. Our seminar includes sessions on goal setting, finding major donors, how to secure visits, planned giving basics, and so much more. After the group training sessions, participants receive a one-on-one coaching session with one of the presenters.

  • Thursday, September 5th:  Major Gifts Seminar (8am – 5pm)
  • Thursday Evening:  Exclusive networking dinner w/ peers and seminar speakers

Location

Join us for our Major Gifts Training Seminar in Washington, D.C., at the end of this summer! We will kick things off with a welcome reception on September 4th, and the training sessions will be held in Washington, D.C., at the Washington Marriott Georgetown on the 5th, with additional opportunities for hospitality and good conversation at a nearby local restaurant, plus an optional fun activity on the evening of the 5th.

Participants traveling to D.C. for the training will have access group rates at The Washington Marriott Georgetown or can choose to stay at another of the many other hotels within walking distance of the training location. There will be 1:1 consultations on the morning of the 6th to conclude the training.

The Experience

In an intimate small group setting, AmPhil’s seasoned consultants will teach you how to set major giving goals, find new donors, schedule visits, optimally manage your donor portfolio, and more. You’ll schedule an hour-long one-on-one coaching session with one of the session leaders to discuss your particular fundraising challenges and questions to identify ways to help your nonprofit succeed.

In addition to the group training sessions and personalized advising, you’ll also have the opportunity to meet peers also striving to be great fundraisers, enjoy wonderful meals together, and enjoy sunny D.C.!

Participants will come away from the training with a solid understanding of:

  • How to build a successful major gifts program
  • How to find new major donors
  • The best ways to cultivate and steward major givers
  • How to secure visits, craft proposals, and make your pitch
  • The secrets of successful moves management
  • The basics of planned giving vehicles

Participants also receive a course manual with additional information and tools to reference again and again after the training.

This Major Gifts Fundraising Seminar is designed for anyone involved in major donor fundraising, including those new to major gifts as well as seasoned development professionals who want to learn new strategies and tactics.

About the Presenters

This Major Gifts Fundraising Seminar is being led by an all-star lineup of major gift fundraising experts, including Joe Garecht, Director of the Center for Civil Society, Kyle Vander Meulen, Partner at AmPhil, Austin Detwiler, Senior Director at AmPhil, and Stephanie Conway, Managing Consultant at AmPhil. Together, they have worked with dozens of nonprofits raising hundreds of millions of dollars through major gifts.
